From their Website: Peterson Racing Promotions started out as a dream in Doc’s head that with a little convincing to Dustin and Jesse turned into a reality. The previous several years we had attended many motocross and supercross races around the country and saw firsthand how things were run. Whether it was right or wrong, we mentally had taken notes on what we would had liked and what we would’ve’e done different. The winter of 2001 was the first ever trial run as the Peterson’s reserved the Swiftel Center and started hauling in dirt. From that day forward we have prided ourselves on holding family-orientated events that give people something to get off their couches for whether it is summer or winter. We have hosted several events from the South Dakota State Fair, to Applefest in Minnesota, the Sioux Empire Fair, and of course the biggest event ever held in the Swiftel Center, the Midwest Supercross. In a nutshell, we are a small-town family that loves the sport and are proud to give back to it all we can in our area.

Kurt McCabe of Cedar Rapids riding a Honda has been training hard for the 2010 Arenacross series and his hard work paid off in the Wells Fargo Arena. Kurt took his heat win and transfered directly to the main and followed up with an overall win for the night.

In an interview on Arenacross.com

“It feels awesome,” exclaimed McCabe. “I got a good jump off gate. Unfortunately, Gavin fell. I was looking forward to having a good race with him. Once I got out front I just went from there.”

A Space Oddssey, or a Race Oddssey? This could be the theme for the Series for 2010 as the series is looking to be one of the best seasons in recent history.

The Midwest is one of the most popular areas of the country for Arenacross race attendance and rider entries. The Des Moines, Iowa round in november has always been the premier round and the most covered round of Arenacross. A lot of the popularity comes from the lack of other national events in the Off-Road world of racing. Supercross doesn’t kick off until January, and The Outdoor Motocross series has ended, the MX Des Nations and the US Open of Supercross in Vegas (Basically a glorified Arenacross race) completed in October.

So this round of Arenacross gets more publicity than any other event in the Series, and because of this they put on a Great show for the fans with pyrotechnics and Lazer light show that is un-matched to any other round in the Arenacross Series. Last season they pulled the Des Moines Round from the Schedule as a points round, and labeled it the Prequel Race (Or Tuners Round to some).
So why would they do that: In my opinion it could be they were tired of promoting their series with two years in the title. Example “2007-2008 Arenacross National Championship series”

What incentive do the teams have to race this round: With no points involved they needed to give something to draw the big names to the round for the crowd. So the Arenacross race could potentially go without the big names Like Broc Sellards, Chad Johnson, Josh Demuth, Nathan Skaggs Teddy Maier, Kevin Johnson and more.

So what did the series do to entice the big teams to attend? How does a 11,000 Pro Purse sound. The pay out is big enough to get the big names and the big teams. And according to Arenacross.com all the top riders will be in attendance for the November Round!

Who is returning: As of Wednesday Nov 4th listed on Arenacross.com here is a list of riders that have been confirmed to race this weekend in Des Moines at the wells fargo Arena.
